Environmental optimising of the value chain
For a long time, helping costumers with an environmental optimising of their production and products has been the core business of the Danish enzyme producer, Novozymes. Novozymes takes it to the next level to impact the next link in the value chain to produce and act more environmentally friendly.
The business of Novozymes is based on the vision of contributing to a sustainable development through knowledge and biotechnology. By means of biological solutions the Danish based concern works on creating the necessary balance between commercial growth and, a cleaner environment and better living conditions.
Less pollutive
Novozymes produces enzymes that are used in many products and production processes. Enzymes are natures own workhorses who exist in all living cells, where they build or decompose organic material. For instance, enzymes are used in detergents, animal feed, wine and juice, in bread production and for treatment of textile and leather. Often, enzymes substitutes for chemicals, and they can contribute to saving water, energy and raw materials in a number of production processes and also give the products a higher quality. Enzymes from Novozymes are being used in 40 different industries in 130 countries world wide.

For long, the concern has helped its costumers to environmentally optimise their products and production processes by use of enzymes. But even though Novozymes is a business-to-business company, the contribution does not stop here. Novozymes goes further down the value chain – to the costumers’ costumers (retail chains) and their costumers (consumers).
Focus on retail chains and consumers
Novozymes is cooperating with some of the worlds largest retail chains, like Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart has announced some very ambitious environmental goals and Novozymes help to carry these goals out by sharing the knowledge about environmental optimising during production and use of convenience goods.
Novozymes also took the step to reach the end-users and tries to impact consumer behaviour. For instance, Novozymes launched an international campaign in favour of laundering at a low temperature, by the name I Do 30.
